Tis the season for big mugs of creamy hot chocolate. I’m a big kid when it comes to making hot chocolate. It’s just better with a ton of cream, marshmallows, and extra chocolate sauce to the top of my already perfect drink. My husband always laughs at me, as I see how many marshmallows I can balance on top of the mountain of whipped cream.
This winter-spiced hot chocolate recipe is by far my absolute favorite. As soon as autumn hits Ireland I buy in the cocoa powder. In fact, I’m drinking a hot chocolate as I’m typing this blog post. I’m not even joking lol.
Is there anything better than a hot chocolate after a cold winter walk? Or even getting cozy in the evening with your fingers wrapped around a warm mug of hot coco, while watching your favorite Netflix show.
How to Make Hot Chocolate Using Cocoa Powder
Into a small saucepan, add in all your ingredients and whisk together until the cocoa powder is mostly separated, there will be a few lumps, but they’ll disappear once you start cooking. Cook over a medium heat and keep stirring slowly with the whisk for around 3-4 minutes. By the time its heated up, all the lumps will be gone. Once the hot chocolate is warmed through (not boiling) pour into your favorite mugs. You can drink it as it is and enjoy, or if you’re like me add in a few mini marshmallows and top with whipped cream and chocolate syrup too. Or if your like me a lot of marshmallows lol.
