How to clean Nespresso Vertuo Next?

The Vertuo Next coffee machines have a very simple cleaning cycle and will take less than 10 minutes from start to finish.

• The first step is to remove the water tank from the back of the coffee machine and clean it with hot soapy water and rinse it.
• Remove the cup support and the capsule drop container and clean them in the same way.
• Refill your tank with fresh water and return it to the back of your Nespresso machine; replace the lid, the cup support, and the capsule container also.
• Plug in your coffee machine and switch it on.
• Press the button on top of your machine for a few seconds until it stays illuminated.
• Place a measuring jug under the coffee head and press the button on top of your machine 3 times within 2 seconds. Doing this triggers the cleaning cycle.
• The cleaning cycle takes about 5 minutes and will stop automatically when it has finished.
• Once the cleaning cycle has finished, remove, and empty the measuring jug.
• Open the top of the coffee machine by turning the lever it’s pointing forwards towards the unlock position.
• Now the cleaning cycle is all done. It’s time to insert your favorite coffee capsule and make yourself a delicious coffee. You know you deserve it.

How often should I run the cleaning cycle on my Vertuo machine?

This cleaning cycle should be done every few weeks. It requires no equipment or supplies other than filling the water tank, placing a jug under the coffee head, and simply letting the machine do the cleaning for you.

How often should I run the descale on my Vertuo machine?

Your Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine will also need to be descaled a couple of times a year, too. The descaling process is a little more complex and requires a descaling solution, which runs from the water tank. If you are planning to run a descaling treatment through your coffee machine, I would suggest running the cleaning cycle after and not before. Nespresso recommends you descale your coffee machine regularly, normally around twice a year or when you’ve used about 600 capsules, whichever comes first.
