In this order, a caramel latte is layered up with caramel syrup, a shot of espresso, milk, and a little whipped cream. If you want to be a little fancy, you can also add freshly whipped cream to the top.
How to make a non-dairy macchiato
It's so easy to make this recipe non-dairy, there are two main ingredients in a macchiato that contain dairy products, milk, and caramel sauce. When it comes to dairy-free milk, there are so many to choose from and in recent years are easily found in most supermarkets. I love using soya milk, oat milk, and coconut milk in coffee; these are my three main go-to kinds of milk at the moment. Dairy-free caramel sauce seems a little harder to get hold of. In fact, when I looked in my local supermarket, they had none. However, there is a lovely vegan caramel sauce on Amazon; it's by the brand Natures Charm, and they have a coconut-salted caramel sauce that can be drizzled over your coffee. I plan on testing out some homemade vegan caramel sauce recipes soon, so stay tuned. Follow us on social media and you'll see when the caramel sauce recipe pops up on my feed.

Looks delicious, but does an iced caramel macchiato taste sweet?
Yes, iced caramel macchiatos do taste sweet but not too sweet. Of course, if you add “too much” caramel sauce or syrup to the recipe, then it will be a lot sweeter. I imagine most people choosing a caramel macchiato from the Starbucks menu are looking for a sweet and creamy coffee, instead of just a caffeine boost.
It’s the best iced caramel macchiato I’ve had. Only problem is I’ll make it too often.
