mixed berry compote

Mixed berry compote is such an easy recipe to make. I’ve used this simple but delicious compote in quite a few of my recipes. It’s such a versatile recipe. You can use compote in porridge, mixed with homemade granola and yogurt, or even for topping your pancakes.

Recipe Ideas For Compote

There is no need to follow this as a strict recipe, if using fresh berries try and use what’s currently in season as the compote will always come out tasting heavenly, and if you don’t like a certain berry leave it out. The best berries to use for this recipe are strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, blackberries, and cranberries.

We grow a lot of our own fruit, so I’m always looking for new ideas to make use of it all in the most delicious way possible. I normally make one big batch of mixed berry compote at a time and use it over a few days. Plus, you can even freeze small portions of your compote. One of my favorite recipes to use this berry compote for is my Yogurt, granola, and berry compote parfaits recipe in the dessert section. Once you’ve made up the compote, they are so easy to put together and taste absolutely delicious.

Instructions

  • Simply add your fresh or frozen mixed berries, water, and soft brown sugar into a small saucepan.
300 g Fresh or frozen mixed berries, 1 tbsp Soft brown sugar, 2-3 tbsp Water
  • Place the saucepan over low heat to simmer for around 30 minutes. Stir occasionally so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the saucepan.
  • When the compote has finished cooking, put it to one side to cool. It will thicken a little more as it cools.
  • That’s all you have to do. I told you it was a simple recipe.
