This is one of my favorite smoothie bowl recipes; the mango and pineapple just taste like summer in a bowl. It feels like I’m being naughty and eating dessert for breakfast. It’s almost like eating fruity ice cream.
The great thing about smoothie bowls is that the sky is the limit regarding food combinations. I like my smoothie bowls to taste sweet and fresh. That’s probably why this is one of my absolute favorite smoothies.
I sometimes add this fruity smoothie into my ice cream sundae glasses and enjoy it in the sunshine. It’s so thick and creamy, almost like drinking a fruity version of a McDonald’s milkshake. That’s probably not a great comparison as this smoothie tastes so much better than anything McDonald’s has to offer (sorry, McDonald’s what else can I say). Also, a large McDonald’s Banana milkshake contains around 500 calories, whereas this filling smoothie recipe only contains around 400 calories with that added feel-good feeling at the end.
All you need to do to put a smoothie bowl together is first choose your base. What I mean by the base is something that is going to make your smoothie thick and creamy. For this recipe, I used frozen bananas. But you could choose frozen avocado, frozen fruit, or even chia seeds. Chia seeds help to bind and thicken a smoothie, add in a teaspoon and leave it to thicken for a minute.
Next, choose two or three of your favorite fruit and veg. These can be fresh or frozen. As I said, the combinations are endless; just have fun experimenting with flavors.
Add in a little liquid such as natural yogurt, milk of any kind, or even a dash of water.
For an optional extra you could add a little sweetener, such as honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, or even dates.
All you need to do is blend your healthy ingredients until smooth. That’s how you make the perfect smoothie bowl recipe to suit you.
