A Homemade cranberry sauce recipe that is not only simple to make but it tastes amazing. You'll have everyone wowed at your Christmas & Thanksgiving spread this year.
Cranberry sauce is such an easy recipe to make and it can be made a day or two before time. The first year I made this recipe, my dinner guests said how lovely it was to have homemade cranberry sauce on their turkey. After hearing how much everyone liked it, I have not used a shop bought cranberry sauce since. I hope you and your guests will love it too.

Cranberry sauce or relish as it's also known should be served at room temperature. Also its best to get the sauce out of the fridge a couple of hours before dinner is served.
How long does homemade cranberry sauce last?
Stored properly, this homemade cranberry sauce can be kept refrigerated for 10 – 12 days. You can freeze homemade cranberry sauce in airtight containers or freezer bags if you want to store it longer. I always make my cranberry sauce the night before Christmas, as it makes light work of the big Christmas dinner on the day ........ wait who am I kidding Christmas dinner is never an easy job LOL. But all jokes aside preparing Christmas dinner recipes the day before is a life saver. You'll get to spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the festivity's with your family and friends.

Cranberries contain vital B vitamins such as thiamin, riboflavin and niacin, they are also a great source of vitamin C and E too. The high amount of antioxidants in cranberries play a role in immune function and may help reduce the risk of heart disease and even some types of cancers.
What can I use cranberry sauce with?
Cranberry sauce doesn't have to stop at turkey, I actually love to use this colorful sauce in quite a few recipes. Of course you can make good use of your Christmas leftovers by making a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. Try adding a little sauce to a yogurt and granola breakfast in the morning. Or topping your French toast with warm cranberry sauce and fresh whipped cream. Or even toast a bagel, smother it in cream cheese and add a dollop of sauce to top it off. Last but not least one of my favorites, muddle the cranberry sauce. Then add a little to the bottom of a champagne glass and top it off with your favorite bottle of bubbly, you can thank me later for that one.

Cranberry Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
- 320 g Fresh cranberries
- 125 ml Orange juice Freshly squeezed
- 125 ml Water
- 200 g White sugar
- 1 Zest of one orange
Instructions
- First step to making homemade cranberry sauce is to wash your fresh cranberries and discard any damaged ones.320 g Fresh cranberries
- Place all the ingredients into a medium sized saucepan.125 ml Orange juice, 125 ml Water, 200 g White sugar, 1 Zest of one orange, 320 g Fresh cranberries
- Cook your cranberry sauce over a medium heat for about 10-15 minutes or until the cranberries have all burst and the mixture is looking more like a sauce.
- Remove your sauce from the heat and set the pan to one side to cool a little. About 5 minutes or so will be fine.
- Transfer the cranberry sauce into a serving bowl and store in the fridge to chill. The cranberry sauce will thicken more as it cools.
- Remove your homemade cranberry sauce from the fridge a few hours before serving to allow it to reach room temperature.
