Nutrition
As someone who appreciates the convenience and deliciousness of a quick and healthy meal, teriyaki chicken stir fry is our favorite go to recipe. The combination of tender chicken, crisp vegetables, and savory-sweet teriyaki sauce never fails to satisfy. Here, I’ll share some invaluable tips, and tricks, and answer common questions to help you perfect this beloved dish.
Mastering Teriyaki Chicken Stir Fry
Prepping for Success
One of the keys to a successful stir fry is proper preparation. Take the time to cut your vegetables into uniform, bite-sized pieces to ensure even cooking. For broccoli, cutting it into smaller florets helps it cook faster and more evenly.
Coating the Chicken
Coating the chicken in corn flour before cooking serves two purposes: it helps to seal in moisture, keeps the chicken juicy, and creates a crispy exterior when cooked. Be sure to shake off any excess flour before adding the chicken to the hot pan to prevent clumping.
Getting the Wok Hot
A hot wok is essential for achieving that signature stir fry flavor. Heat your wok over medium-high heat and add oil just before adding the chicken. This ensures a quick sear, locking in flavor and moisture.
Building Layers of Flavor
The key to a delicious teriyaki sauce lies in the balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors. Adjust the amounts of brown sugar, soy sauce, and rice wine vinegar to suit your taste preferences. Don’t forget to add fresh ginger and garlic for an extra punch of flavor.
Thickening the Sauce
To ensure a glossy, thick sauce that coats every bite, mix corn flour with the sauce ingredients before adding it to the pan. Stir continuously as the sauce bubbles and thickens, ensuring that it evenly coats the chicken and vegetables.

What can I substitute for mirin if I don't have any?
