Instructions
Remove all packaging from the ham (gammon joint), including any plastic or paper casing.
3 lb ham
Place a slow cooker trivet in the bottom of the slow cooker. Set the ham on top so it does not touch the base of the pot.
Pour the vegetable broth (stock) into the slow cooker around the ham. Avoid pouring the broth directly over the meat.
1 cup vegetable broth
Cover and cook on LOW for 5 hours.
Carefully remove the ham from the slow cooker. Cover loosely with aluminum foil and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Transfer the ham to a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to remove any excess fat.
Cut the ham into your desired-size slices. Serve warm or cold with your favorite Sunday roast sides.
Notes
Tips and Tricks
Remove every layer of packaging before placing the ham in the slow cooker. Some joints may have an additional plastic or paper casing.
The trivet keeps the ham raised above the bottom of the slow cooker.
Pour the stock around the meat rather than directly over it.
Cook the ham on the low setting for the full 5 hours.
Resting the ham for 20 minutes makes it easier to slice.
Remove only the excess fat after resting, then cut the ham into thick or thin slices as preferred.
The cooked ham can be served warm or cold.
