Get ready to be blown away by our roasted chestnuts recipe. With its heavenly taste and satisfying crunch, it's the ultimate Winter snack you won't be able to resist!
Take each chestnut and place it on a chopping board with the flat side facing down. Carefully hold the chestnut and use a sharp knife to create a long slit or a cross on the top of the shell. Ensure that you cut through the shell without damaging the nut inside.
20 Chestnuts
After making the cut on each chestnut, place them in a bowl of water and let them soak for approximately 20-30 minutes.
Once the soaking time is complete, drain the chestnuts.
Arrange the drained chestnuts on a baking sheet or in a roasting tin, ensuring that the cut side is facing up. Roast them in the oven for 30 minutes. During this time, the cuts will open up, and the shell will start to peel back.
To cool the hot nuts, transfer them to a bowl and allow them to reach a warm temperature. To aid in peeling, cover the bowl with a chopping board to trap the steam.
Offer the nuts as they are for guests to peel, or peel them yourself for use in a recipe.
